48 states unfriendly to Russia organized a demarche at the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policy and Sustainable Development Mondiacult-2022 in Mexico City, Russian Ambassador to Mexico Viktor Coronelli said.

According to him, the demarche was arranged at the closing ceremony. Earlier, the final declaration was adopted at the conference, which was supported by all participants of the event.

According to Coronelli, the composition of the countries that staged the demarche did not cause surprise. “The countries of the European Union, the Anglo-Saxons, Eastern Europe, and a number of other joined delegations, 48 participants in total,” the diplomat said.

The Ambassador said that the participants of the demarche did not listen to the speech of the Russian delegation, which confirms their unwillingness to engage in dialogue. “During the response, the participants of the demarche ran out of the hall like rats, this once again confirms that they do not want to hear other opinions and assessments,” he said.

Coronelli also replied that the demarche was not ignored, and after the conference a number of delegates expressed support and approval of the work of representatives of Russia.

The Mondiacult-2022 conference was held on September 28-30 in Mexico City. In 22 paragraphs of the final document, the UNESCO participating countries formulated their priorities and briefly presented a long-term action plan “harnessing the transformative influence of culture for sustainable development”.
