The delivery of the second regiment of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to Turkey may be postponed indefinitely, Breaking Defense reports, citing sources.
The interlocutors of the publication noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the conditions of the economic crisis in the country, is hardly ready for a new approach in the acquisition of “four hundred”. At the moment, no one in Ankara wants to raise this issue.
Thus, Turkey remains uncertain about military-technical cooperation with Russia.
The publication also reports that Ankara is cautious about acquiring a new batch of S-400s, as it is afraid to disrupt the deal to upgrade the fleet of F-16 fighter jets and fall under new US sanctions.
At the same time, Washington, BD claims, openly made it clear to Ankara that the acquisition of a second S-400 regiment would lead to the activation of more serious restrictive measures against Turkey.
