The United States believes that employees of the Afghan special services who remained in the country after the establishment of the Taliban government (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation) are vulnerable to recruitment by Russia, China and Iran. This conclusion was announced in a report at a meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the U.S. House of Representatives, according to Reuters.
Also in this report, it is reported that Afghan law enforcement officials are well acquainted with how the United States conducts operations, so their recruitment may threaten Washington’s interests. Some former officers have already fled to Iran.
According to the authors of the report, the Joe Biden administration failed to set the right priorities during the evacuation after the arrival of the Taliban and made a mistake by leaving these military in Afghanistan.
