President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has published a video message in which he announced that Ukraine is applying to join NATO.
“Today Ukraine is submitting an application… In an accelerated manner,” the Ukrainian leader said in a statement.
Zelensky noted that de facto Ukraine has already passed its way into NATO and proved compatibility with the standards of the Alliance. According to him, the application is submitted to “do it de jure.”
He added that Ukraine is taking its defining step by signing an application to join NATO in an accelerated manner.
Zelensky’s statement was made after an emergency meeting of the NSDC of Ukraine.
Earlier, the Kremlin held a ceremony of signing agreements on the accession of new regions to the Russian Federation – the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
