President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he would support the idea of resuming the export of Russian ammonia through his country only if the Russian Federation returns “Ukrainian prisoners of war”.

“This is exactly what I proposed to the UN,” the Ukrainian leader said in an interview with Reuters.

Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the Anadolu agency that the possibility of exporting ammonia from the Russian Federation through the territory of Ukraine is currently being discussed.

According to Guterres, Turkey and the UN are trying to minimize the negative consequences of the conflict in Ukraine for the world community. The Secretary General of the international organization added that earlier, with the mediation of the UN and Ankara, agreements were reached on the export of grain through Ukrainian ports. Now the issue of exporting ammonium nitrate via a pipeline that passes through Ukraine is being discussed.
