During the telephone talks between the presidents of the United States and Russia, which took place the night before, Joe Biden told Vladimir Putin that Washington does not rule out a diplomatic solution to the crisis around Ukraine, but is ready if the situation turns into a hot phase. Biden noted that in this case, Russia will face “serious and rapid consequences.”
The White House said in a statement that President Biden repeated that Russia’s possible “invasion” of Ukraine would cause a large number of people to suffer and weaken Russia’s position.
Earlier, the United States announced the evacuation of non-core personnel of its embassy in Kiev from Ukraine and recommended that US citizens leave this country.
Russia denies all accusations of preparing a military operation against Ukraine.
