On the eve of the evening, the acting head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that he had made a “difficult decision about himself” and that the path to power structures should be given to young leaders.
“Brought up in a spiritual environment and in accordance with the high requirements of modernity,” Berdimuhamedov said.
He stressed that two years ago he reached the age of 63 – the age of the Prophet Muhammad, so now he wants to discuss this “difficult decision about himself.” The politician also said that as chairman of the upper house of the Parliament of Turkmenistan, he wants to apply “his vast life and political experience” in parliamentarism.
The President also recalled that the people expressed their trust in him 15 years ago at the elections and twice more – in 2012 and 2017 – he received popular support. From now on, Berdimuhamedov assured his compatriots, he will also spare no effort in the name of the well-being of his country.
