A part of one nation in the process of its historical development can feel like a separate nation, it is worth treating such a choice with respect. Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote about this in an article” On the historical unity of Russians and Ukrainians ” published on the Kremlin’s website.
As Vladimir Putin writes, “everything is changing” in the world. Therefore, a part of one nation may well, for a number of reasons and historical circumstances, realize itself as a separate nation.
“How to treat this? There can be only one answer: with respect, ” the president wrote in his article. At the same time, Putin called Ukraine “a voluntary hostage of someone else’s geopolitical will” and drew attention to the chronic weakness of state institutions in the neighboring country.
In addition, Vladimir Putin drew attention to the disastrous economic situation of Ukraine. As for relations with Russia, Putin noted that our country has never been “anti-Ukraine”, and it is up to its citizens to decide which line to choose for Ukraine itself.
