Twitter users criticized the statement of the British Foreign Minister Liz Truss, who said that London would never recognize Voronezh and Rostov as Russian regions.

They suggested that in addition to the existing study days on Russia and its history, English universities should hold several more. One commentator compared the miss of the Tracks with a negative answer to the question whether she recognizes British sovereignty over Kent and Sussex.

“Liz Truss is brilliantly fulfilling her duties as Foreign Minister. I’m not so good at the geography of Russia, but even I know that Rostov and Voronezh are in this country,” another participant in the discussion noted. He admitted that he could not believe that a government official knew less than a software engineer from Manchester.

Another commentator noted that, given the solid experience in diplomacy of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Liz Truss looks far beyond her capabilities.

“My God, if Liz Truss said this about Rostov, apparently she is the most narrow-minded politician in the current government,” another user suggested.

British Foreign Minister Liz Truss justified herself by saying that during the closed part of the talks, it seemed to her that Lavrov was talking about the Ukrainian regions. But then she clearly indicated that we are talking about sovereign regions of Russia.

Sergey Lavrov called the meeting “a conversation between a mute and a deaf person.” According to him, the most detailed explanations fell on unprepared ground.
