Political scientist Maxim Zharov said that due to the serious condition of LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who is in the Central Committee with pneumonia on the background of coronavirus, the party can expect big changes, the website reports.

The LDPR may be “reoriented to classic liberal versions, and it will be headed by a completely unexpected figure from the country’s highest political elite,” the expert noted. According to him, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, one of the leaders of United Russia Dmitry Medvedev may become the new leader of the Liberal Democrats.

Zharov once again stressed that in the worst case scenario, the appearance of Dmitry Medvedev or someone from his entourage at the head of the Duma party is very likely. And since the party will cease to represent anything without Vladimir Zhirinovsky, its rebranding will be carried out.

Deputy Speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament Boris Chernyshov may temporarily replace Vladimir Zhirinovsky. This was reported by other sources of the publication. The party itself has not yet commented on the question of Vladimir Zhirinovsky’s successor.
