A rally demanding Armenia’s withdrawal from the CSTO in connection with the escalation of the situation on the border with Azerbaijan is being held in Yerevan on France Square.
According to AMI “News-Armenia”, the organizers of the rally were The National Democratic Pole and the European Party.
Many participants of the action came to the event with US flags and national flags. Some are holding slogans in English “Goodbye to the CSTO, welcome MNNA” (“The main ally outside NATO”, a term denoting US allies outside the alliance). A number of participants came out with slogans of offensive content addressed to the CSTO.
The rally is taking place against the backdrop of the visit to Armenia of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, who said at a briefing on behalf of Congress that she condemns the actions of Azerbaijan. She also promised to support Armenia.
At the same time in An advance group of the CSTO mission headed by Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov is currently in Armenia.
Earlier, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan expressed disappointment with the CSTO’s reaction to the conflict with Azerbaijan.
