Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu said that the report of the US intelligence community on the origin of the coronavirus is an attempt by Washington to unfairly blame Beijing for the beginning of the pandemic.
In an interview with China Central Television, Ma Zhaoxu said that the American report “from beginning to end is political” and false. According to him, the document is unscientific and unreliable. “In this regard, China has expressed a strong protest to the American side and made a strict presentation to it,” he stressed.
According to the Chinese diplomat, the American side cannot provide any irrefutable evidence. Zhaoxu also pointed to the fact that the United States has involved special services in order to establish the origin of COVID-19. In his opinion, this is already ” irrefutable proof that they are politicizing this problem.”
Earlier on Friday, a declassified version of the report of the US intelligence community was published. It summarizes the conclusions of the special services about the origin of the coronavirus. The report said that the coronavirus is not being developed as a biological weapon. However, the US intelligence agencies stressed that, most likely, they will not be able to definitively assess the origin of the coronavirus without the assistance of China.
