Ukraine’s use of drones against Donbass “Bayraktar” can lead to tragic consequences, Ukraine said in an interview.ru» military expert Igor Korotchenko. He noted that drones will hit civilian infrastructure facilities, and the Donbass forces do not have air defense means capable of fighting them.
“In the conditions of the impending winter for Donbass, this will actually mean a death sentence,” Korotchenko stressed. He considers what is happening a kind of provocation: Kiev intends to put Russia before the need for military intervention in the conflict. This could lead to another sanctions pressure from the West, which could affect the “Nord Stream-2”.
The DPR and the LPR have nothing to shoot down “Bayraktars” with. In principle, Russia could create a no-fly zone over the Donbas by deploying S-400 air defense systems and modern electronic warfare systems in the Rostov region, but for this it is necessary to calculate the political consequences of such a step. But from the technical side, it can be done.
Korotchenko believes that Ukraine is largely pushed by the Americans to clash with Russia. And this may end in an armed conflict between the countries. “Therefore, no matter how catastrophic and paradoxical the scenario of the war between Russia and Ukraine is, we cannot discount it,” the expert added.
