Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi will arrive in Taiwan late on August 2 and stay at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. This was reported by the Taiwanese edition ETtoday.
According to the publication, Pelosi will land at Songshan Airport in Taipei at about 22:30 local time (17:30 Moscow time) and proceed to the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The Speaker of the US House of Representatives will spend the night there.
On the morning of August 3, Pelosi will go to the Legislative Yuan (the island’s parliament), where she will meet with representatives of the country’s top leadership, including the head of the administration, Tsai Ing-wen.
Pelosi will leave the island on Wednesday around noon. Thus, the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives to Taiwan will last less than a day. Pelosi is in Singapore today.
Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan caused extreme dissatisfaction with the Chinese authorities. In connection with the upcoming visit, military exercises were demonstratively launched in the coastal province of Fujian, from which the island is only 180 kilometers across the Taiwan Strait.
