Georgian opposition won elections in 1 out of 20 cities

In 19 Georgian cities out of 20 where the second round of local elections took place, candidates from the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party won. The CEC counted one hundred percent of the votes. 

So the incumbent mayor, Kakha Kaladze, won in Tbilisi. 55.6% of the residents of the capital voted for him. His competitor, Nika Melia, lost about 11 percent of the vote.

Representatives of the Georgian Dream also won in Rustavi, Kutaisi, Poti and Batumi. The only city where an opposition candidate came to power was Tsalenjiha in Svaneti. Here, the candidate from the United National Movement, Georgy Kharchilava, beat the representative of the ruling party by 314 votes.

Residents of Georgia elected mayors of 20 municipalities and deputies to local assemblies in 24 majority districts. The first round of elections was held on October 2.
