Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko said that Russia could quickly complete the special operation in Ukraine, but the consequences could be serious.
“There would have been civilian casualties,” Matvienko said. “We can’t afford it, it’s not our task.”
According to her, the main purpose of the operation was the destruction of weapons and the achievement of an agreement on the non-aligned and nuclear-free status of Ukraine. She added that “an agreement has already been practically prepared,” which, according to her, “suited Ukraine and Russia.” At that moment, the speaker said, Russia withdrew its troops from Kiev.
Matvienko also said that Russia is ready for peace talks with Ukraine.
