French lawyer and politician Regis de Castelnau said on social networks that he became aware of the seizure by the Russian military in Ukraine of two CAESAR self-propelled artillery units, which Paris handed over to Kiev.

As de Castelnau noted in his statement, the Russian military managed to get two installations fully operational. At the moment, they have already been delivered to the Uralvagonzavod, where they are being studied by engineers using the method of complete disassembly.

“Another achievement of Macron,” the politician noted with irony.

“Thank you, Macron. But we pay for it,” he added.

There was no official confirmation from the Russian Defense Ministry about the seizure of the French CAESAR self-propelled guns.

In France, CAESAR self-propelled guns have been in operation since 2008. This is a fairly new development of the French company Nexter.

The 155-mm self-propelled artillery unit has fully automatic guidance and automatic delivery of shells. The installation is capable of making 3 shots in 18 seconds. The maximum firing range of an ERFB high-explosive fragmentation projectile is 41 km, an active—rocket projectile (e.g. Excalibur) is 46-49 km. The M2005 V-LAP long-range projectile with a range of 54 km can also be used.
