The Polish Defense Ministry commented on the video with President Duda announcing the mobilization

A video has spread on Chinese social networks in which Polish President Andrzej Duda allegedly announces mobilization and orders the deployment of troops to Ukraine. However, the Ministry of Defense of the country denied such information, and the video itself was called a fake. This was reported on May 27 by AFP.

According to journalists, the 32-second-long video, around which the scandal arose, went viral in early May on the popular Sina Weibo microblogging service in China and in Douyin, the Chinese equivalent of TikTok.

The footage shows Andrzej Duda delivering a speech, and the subtitles in Chinese say that he announces the readiness of Polish troops to enter Western Ukraine and organize volunteers to join the resistance. «This will allow us to reflect any danger or potential threat», — reported in the credits.

AFP journalists found out that the recording itself is authentic. It was taken from a live broadcast by the Polish news agency Onet News. President Andrzej Duda did make a speech, but he only did it in honor of the celebration of Constitution Day on May 3, 2022. In a common fragment, Duda does not mention mobilization, but speaks aboutthe brotherhood of the peoples of Poland and Ukraine and the possible “absence of borders” between them.

Earlier, the president of Poland, as part of his speech at the economic forum in Davos, said that Germany does not give his country the tanks that it promised instead of those delivered to Ukraine. Before that, it was reported that Poland supplied Ukraine with hundreds of its T-72 tanks.
