The wife of the commander of the battalion banned in the Russian Federation for extremism, “Azov” Denis Prokopenko (“Radish”) she told the British edition of The Guardian that her husband is being held in “more or less satisfactory” conditions.

Ekaterina said that her husband was able to make a short call. He informed her that none of the prisoners were being abused.

“He said he was all right, and asked how I was,” Catherine said. She said that she knows from other sources about the conditions of detention of prisoners.

“They are fed, watered. The conditions meet the requirements, and during this period they were not subjected to violence. Of course, we don’t know what will happen next, but at the moment there are third parties – the UN and the Red Cross – who control the situation, Ekaterina said.

Most of the wounded Azov fighters are being held in a prison in the village of Elenovka near Donetsk. A small group of seriously wounded militants is in a hospital in the city of Novoazovsk. Ekaterina Prokopenko said that, as far as she knows, so far none of the militants have been taken to Russia.

Earlier it was reported that after the surrender, Prokopenko was taken from the territory of the Azovstal plant in an armored car to avoid lynching of local residents.
