Readers of the British edition of the Daily Express commented on the incident in the Black Sea. Recall that the Black Sea Fleet, together with the Border Service of the FSB, stopped the provocation from the British destroyer Defender, which crossed the sea border of the Russian Federation for three kilometers at Cape Fiolent. As a result, the Russian patrol ship opened fire, the Su-24M performed a warning bombing, and the British ship was forced to retire.

The article emphasizes that Britain and its allies do not recognize Crimea as Russian, and as a result, there was no violation of the Russian border as such.

The commentators-mostly British-were divided into two parts. The first — this is escalating the conflict-called on the British fleet to be more decisive and not to be afraid of the Russians. The second group is those who are sensibly assessing the situation.

“Why did we not return fire?”, “We need to shoot back, but with larger bombs”, ” Why do we pay for the fleet if it will not shoot at the aggressor?” – write hardliners against Moscow. They are told: “I got the impression that it was a legitimate warning shot. We were the aggressor. No harm done — as long as the ship is in the wrong place and leaves immediately.”

“Why poke a bear?” one reader asks. Others recalled that the Black Sea is actually very, very far from Britain. “How many British cities are there on the Black Sea coast? What is our fleet doing there? ” the British ask themselves.

Also, some recalled the problem with migrants, which can not be solved in London – their crowds move to Britain across the English Channel. “Give the Russians a job to prevent immigrants from crossing the Strait,” the British joke.
