The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, appreciated the scandal with the Norwegian Consul Elisabeth Ellingsen, who staged a real Russophobic tantrum in a Murmansk hotel.
“Western values are impressing more and more,” the Russian diplomat noted in her Telegram channel.
According to her, in the choice of vocabulary, the representative of Norway “did not restrain herself, exposing her component anger.” At the same time, Zakharova pointed out that the reason for the scandal on the part of the Norwegian diplomat was the request of the hotel manager to wait a little while until her room was cleaned.
Zakharova added that the consul’s statements included “hatred of one nationality and undisguised national superiority.”
The speaker of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that when Ellingsen came to Murmansk in 2019, she “prettily posed in photos with her colleague (and, as I understand, a very close friend) Torunn Hasler”. The latter is an employee of the penitentiary authorities. Now the Russian Foreign Ministry is working out options for responding to this “outrageous act of hatred, nationalism and xenophobia.”
“Unless the Norwegian Foreign Ministry gets ahead of us. What would be right,” Zakharova stressed.
Earlier, the Telegram channel Mash reported that the hotel staff asked Ellingsen, as well as other visitors, to wait for the maids to finish cleaning their rooms. But in response, the diplomat suddenly declared that she was “not some Russian woman who cleans any way.” Ellingsen did not hesitate to say that “she hates Russians and is used toclean rooms from Scandinavia.”
Now Ellingsen’s words will be checked by the police. According to Russian law, the Norwegian consul faces a criminal case under the article “Incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity.” Meanwhile, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on the scandalous words of the consul.
