President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree introducing the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine “On urgent measures to deepen Ukraine’s integration into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization”, adopted at a meeting of the NSDC.

On July 23, document No. 307/2021 was published on the President’s website together with the specified decision of the Council. It says that the NSDC decision of June 2, 2021 is being put into effect.
“Control over the implementation of the decision of the NSDC of Ukraine, put into effect by this decree, is entrusted to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine,” the document says.
According to the NSDC, the society expects from all branches of government concrete results of the implementation of reforms that “were converted into the welfare and security of citizens.” It is indicated that the preparation of Ukraine for gaining membership in NATO is the most important state task.
“Ukraine will be considered a real candidate for membership in NATO if serious progress is achieved in all spheres of the state’s life; successful implementation of domestic reforms is impossible without effective integration of the principle of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men in all spheres of state policy,” the document added.
The country is also taking measures for intensive cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance and its member states to implement decisions on Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was instructed to take measures to prolong the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ukrainian government and the NATO organization on Communications and Information, as well as to prepare a number of proposals. The SBU is instructed to prepare and submit a draft law of Ukraine “On the security of classified information”.
