The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov commented on Tuesday on the statement of the adviser to the permanent mission of Russia to the UN in Geneva, Boris Bondarev, who resigned and said that he was “ashamed of his country”.
Bondarev, who worked as a diplomat for more than 20 years, outlined the reasons for his dismissal in a letter to his colleagues.
Peskov said that the Kremlin is “familiar with this letter”. And stressed that “this is a matter of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs”.
He also added: “We can say that Mr. Bondarev is no longer with us, rather he is against us.”
Peskov noted that Bondarev “condemns the actions of the Russian leadership,” which are “supported by almost the entire population of the country.”
“Which means that this gentleman opposed the consolidated opinion of our country,” the Kremlin representative summed up.
