Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing another raw material trap for the West, the German newspaper Die Welt reports.

According to the author of the material, Bolivia has the largest lithium deposits in the world and is looking for business partners who will help it in the extraction of raw materials widely used in the production of electric vehicles. He noted that one of the contenders is Russia.

“This is where Putin’s new raw material trap should close,” the article clarifies.

It is clarified that Russia currently has a good chance of succeeding in the lithium poker game, and if Moscow succeeds, then Europe, in addition to oil and gas, may have another dependence on Moscow for raw materials. According to the American Geological Survey, Bolivia has the world’s largest lithium reserves – 21 million tons. According to this indicator, it is ahead of Argentina and Chile, the article emphasizes.

If the Russian Federation could take control of the lithium deposits in the republic, it would put it in a very advantageous position due to the importance of raw materials for the modern economy.
