An al-Qaeda-linked group announced a major clash with ISIS in Mali

The Al-Qaeda-linked (banned in the Russian Federation) group Jamaat Nusrat Al-Islam Wal-Muslimin (DNIM) announced a major clash with the Islamic State (the organization is banned in the Russian Federation) in Mali. According to the DNIM statement, during a shootout on March 1 in the Menaka district, the jihadists eliminated more than sixty IS militants.

The MTO also acknowledged the loss of several members of the group. DNIM resources have not published any photos or videos confirming the fact of clashes between two groups competing for influence in the Sahel region.

At the end of January, it was in the Menaka district that the leader of the DNIM personally took the oath of allegiance from representatives of several tribes of Mali.

The Islamic State has so far remained silent about the incident in Mali. Today, the MTO propagandists published photos of the results of the attack on the DNIM militants in Burkina Faso, which occurred in early January. Then, during a shootout in the province of Gurma, the jihadists eliminated more than twenty competitors.
