First Vice-Speaker of the State Council of Crimea Efim Fix said that by the end of February, the first lawsuit against Ukraine for damage from the water blockade of the peninsula will be filed with the Arbitration Court.

According to him, at the moment, specialists are finalizing the preparation of a claim for transfer to the Arbitration Court of the Republic of Crimea for recognition of damage.

“Now we are completing work on the materials that will be sent to the court. I believe that the first lawsuits will arrive at the end of February. So far, we are talking only about those claims that relate to damage to the economy of the peninsula as a result of the water blockade,” Fix added.

It is clarified that several regional departments will file lawsuits against Ukraine, including the Ministry of Tourism, Agriculture, Ecology and Natural Resources, Resorts and Tourism, as well as the State Committee for Water Management. The total damage is estimated at 1.45 trillion rubles, but the amount may still change.
