Rapid and heavy economic sanctions will be imposed against Russia after referendums on the entry of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into the Russian Federation. This is stated in a statement by US President Joe Biden.
Also, the owner of the White House repeated that Washington does not intend to recognize the results of referendums and will continue to support Kiev. “The United States will never recognize Ukrainian territory as anything other than a part of Ukraine,” the statement reads.
The referendum on joining the Russian Federation began on Friday. The voting will last until September 27. Representatives of the public have asked the regional authorities to hold referendums. In their opinion, joining Russia will restore historical justice and secure the territories.
