Georgian PM: there are no conditions for direct contacts with the Russian authorities

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said that there are currently no grounds for organizing direct contacts with the Russian leadership. He noted that such a level of interaction should not be organized for the mere fact of a meeting.

“There should be a result-oriented meeting, not a meeting for a meeting,” Garibashvili said.

He recalled that until now Moscow and Tbilisi have been interacting only through the format of the Geneva talks, which affects exclusively only trade, economic and cultural spheres. As for politics, for direct contacts with the leadership of the Russian Federation, “good preparation and understanding” are necessary, the Prime minister added.
