The United States sees risks to its national security due to the release of Viktor Bout. This was stated by the coordinator for strategic Communications at the US National Security Council, John Kirby.
“Booth has a choice. If he chooses to return to his previous line of work, then we will do everything possible to bring him to justice,” he said in an interview with ABC.
According to him, despite the “significant risk” to American security, Washington considered him “manageable” and therefore agreed to exchange Booth for Brittney Griner.
