The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakhara, in her Telegram channel commented on the opening of a monument to the “forest brothers” (paramilitary units that fought against the Soviet army) in the Estonian village of Huti.

Zakharova reminded the Estonian authorities that the world was freed from the brown plague, including Estonian heroes-soldiers of regular units and anti-fascist partisans. Therefore, according to the diplomat, in the year of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, it looks strange to honor in Estonia “collaborators and punishers who have stained their hands up to the elbows in human blood”.

“On August 22, in the village of Huti (Ryuge parish, Vyru county), in the presence of representatives of the authorities, a monument to the forest brothers, who fought against the Soviet army, paramilitary detachments of Estonian nationalists and criminals, was solemnly opened… These figures went down in history not as warriors, but as ordinary murderers, … who dealt with innocent civilians, ” Zakharova wrote.

She recalled that only according to official data, the “brothers” in Estonia account for the lives of almost 500 civilians, many of whom were tortured by nationalists before being killed.

The current monument reproduces an old work by the Estonian artist H.Sturm, created by him in 1946.
