American experts of the Popular Mechanics portal tried to understand the purpose of finding the Russian fleet conducting tests 35 miles from Hawaii. The squadron includes the missile cruiser “Varyag”, the frigates “Marshal Shaposhnikov” and “Admiral Panteleev”, the corvettes “Steregushchy”, “Loud” and “Aldar Tsydenzhapov”. It is emphasized that the Russian Federation has not sent such forces so far into the Pacific Ocean for a long time.
“Seven Russian warships are doing something strange near Hawaii,” the authors note.
A version is put forward that the Russian exercises are related to the tests of the US missile defense system. The Americans intend to launch a ballistic missile from Kodiak Island, and they will launch a missile from Kwajalein atoll near Alaska. The Russians want to observe this, the publication suggests.
In addition, the maneuvers of the Russian fleet have a purely political purpose-to remind them of their interests in the Pacific Ocean, which is of strategic importance to them.
Earlier, the publication Popular Mechanics published a material that spoke of China’s inability to repeat the audacious maneuver of the Russian aviation, which in 2011 rounded Japan and thus sent an unambiguous signal to Tokyo. The Chinese failed to do the same with Taiwan a few days ago.
