Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum that Russia will respond to European sanctions against Russian hydrocarbons. According to him, if “some decisions of a political nature are made that contradict the contracts,” then “we will simply not fulfill them.”

“We will not supply gas, nor oil, nor coal, nor heating oil,” he said. “We will not supply anything.”
According to Putin, the Russian side intends to fulfill its contractual obligations, but if the counterparties try to “dictate their will”, then the answer will follow.
“Let them come to their senses,” Putin added, also quoting a catch phrase from a Russian folk tale: “freeze, freeze, wolf’s tail.”
