The Belarusian Foreign Ministry informed Moscow about the situation with the detained Russians

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Belarusian side informed the ministry about the situation around the Russian citizens detained in Minsk. He expressed hope that the situation with Sofia Sapega, who was arrested in May, will be resolved soon.

Earlier it was reported that on Friday, June 18, Sergey Lavrov and his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei will discuss the situation with the detention of Sapieha.

Sofia Sapega was detained at the Minsk airport on May 23 after the forced landing of a Ryanair airliner together with her boyfriend Roman Protasevich. Protasevich is the co-founder and former editor of the opposition telegram channel NEXTA. In Belarus, he is accused of organizing mass riots.

According to the investigation, Sofia Sapega collected and publicly released personal data of Belarusian security forces.
