The Navy Day in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt traditionally ended with a grand salute

The celebration of the Navy Day in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt, which traditionally began with the Main Naval Parade, also traditionally ended with a large-scale fireworks. According to the press service of the ZVO, 30 volleys were fired at a time in Kronstadt and at the walls of the Peter and Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg.

“Artillery salutes were held at 22:45 according to a single plan. 30 volleys were fired in honor of the glorious victories of the Russian army, symbols of the Navy and hero cities from the D-44 and D-30 guns, accompanied by several thousand fireworks shots from 105 mm, 125 mm, 195 mm, 310 mm calibres, which provided different lifting heights of fireworks. The rupture domes exceeded 300 meters in diameter,” the press service said in a statement.

According to her information, when launching fireworks, the Tricolor 2A96 125 mm caliber fireworks launcher was also used, which releases more than 2 thousand fireworks into the sky in one minute. With the help of this installation, the sky over St. Petersburg and Kronstadt was decorated with the colors of the Russian flag.

No less spectators gathered to watch the traditional end of the holiday than the main part of it – the Main Naval Parade. People were everywhere from where it was possible to fully see this magnificent and large-scale spectacle – on embankments, bridges, on boats and motor ships.

Lit torches on Rostral columns created a festive look on the Spit of Vasilievsky Island of St. Petersburg, and the Palace Bridge and Bolshoy Prospekt of the Petrogradskaya Side were painted in the colors of the St. Andrew’s flag with the help of lighting design.

The main naval parade took place on the Neva River between the Blagoveshchensk and Trinity Bridges and on the Great Kronstadt Roadstead along the southern protective wall of the port. 36 ships and boats, four submarines, seven sailing vessels, 42 aircraft, as well as over 3,500 military personnel took part in the grandiose action.
