Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal called on the heads of local heating companies to find a replacement for natural gas. Vesti.ua reports that Shmygal suggested biofuels as an alternative.

The politician clarified that the search for a replacement is necessary in order to “pass the next heating seasons with less stress.” He pointed to the Volyn region, where most of the boiler houses run on alternative fuels.

Since the beginning of the heating season, budget institutions have been forced to buy gas at a high tariff of up to 122 rubles per cubic meter. Because of this, an emergency situation was declared in some regions of Ukraine.
