Assistant to the US President for National Security Jake Sullivan, speaking to reporters, announced negotiations with the Russian authorities regarding the possible exchange of US citizen Paul Whelan, convicted in Russia for espionage.
According to him, these discussions may take place as early as this week.
“We will have talks with Russia later this week about Whelan,” Sullivan said.
