Sources in the US Congress and the Pentagon said that in June, shortly before the summit of US and Russian Presidents Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin, Washington decided to postpone the testing of hypersonic weapons.

According to Politico, the corresponding decision was made in the White House in order not to anger the Kremlin on the eve of the meeting.

“President Biden was preparing for difficult talks with Putin in Geneva… The White House feared that the tests of American hypersonic weapons right before the summit could send the wrong signal to Russia or disrupt the negotiations”, – the message says.

At the same time, the publication notes that the Russian side during this period also did not carry out any large-scale actions that could be regarded as a provocation.
