China Central Television reported that the People’s Liberation Army of China has launched major military exercises with live firing around Taiwan.
It is specified that the military maneuvers began on Thursday at 12:00. Most likely, the exercises were a response to the visit to Taipei by the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi. The maneuvers are taking place in six districts around the island at once and will last until Sunday.
The Chinese Government has warned planes and ships not to enter the airspace and waters of the areas where military exercises are taking place.
Recall that Pelosi arrived in Taiwan on Tuesday evening. Her visit was the impetus for a new round of tension in the Taiwan Strait.
