The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said at a press conference after the EU summit that the European Union is ready to provide financial assistance to Ukraine in the future, which will be aimed at restoring the country, only in exchange for appropriate reforms.

According to her, representatives of the European Union and the United States should develop a way to attract investments for the restoration of Ukraine. At the same time, financial assistance must necessarily be accompanied by reforms.

“It is necessary to create positive conditions for business in Ukraine. It is possible to carry out reforms in the sphere of governance of the country, the fight against corruption and increasing the independence of the judicial system,” von der Leyen said.

The head of the EC did not specify when the United States of America and the European Union will be ready to provide these funds and how much money is in question.

She added that in the near future the European Union will consider options for allocating emergency macro-financial assistance to Kiev. At the moment, experts are working on creating a mechanism according to which nine billion euros will be allocated to Ukraine.
