Iran will take “proportional measures” in response to Ukraine’s decision to restrict the work of the Iranian embassy in Kiev, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said.

Earlier, Ukraine deprived the Iranian ambassador of accreditation, the reason was rumors about the use of Iranian weapons by Russia during a military special operation.

The representative of Iran said that he regrets the tightening of diplomatic cooperation by Ukraine, but considers this measure “based on unconfirmed reports and caused by the creation of a foreign media space.”

Kanani stressed the need for a non-violent political settlement of disputes, recalling how much Iran has already done to resolve the Ukrainian-Russian conflict. He also advised the government of Ukraine to “avoid the influence of third parties seeking to destroy relations between the countries.”

Earlier, Axios, citing senior Israeli officials, reported that the Ukrainian authorities had asked Israel to disclose intelligence about the military support of the Russian Armed Forces from Iran. It is clarified that this initiative was discussed during the visit of the head of the Eurasian Department of the Israeli Foreign Ministry Simona Halperin to Kiev. There she held a meeting with the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and North Africa Maksut Subh, who called on Israel to provide military assistance to Ukraine and join anti-Russian sanctions.
