Kiev is outraged by the Amnesty International report

The Ukrainian authorities were outraged by the conclusions contained in the report of the international human rights organization Amnesty International (AI). In particular, it notes that the tactics of the Ukrainian military consists in the deployment of military units near civilian infrastructure facilities.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba was the first to respond to this report. According to him, AI wants to create a “false balance between the criminal and the victim.” “Stop creating a fake reality where everyone is to blame for something,” he addressed the staff of the human rights organization. – Engage in reporting the systemic truth about what the Russian Federation is.”

After that, the Office of the President of Ukraine said that human rights activists are conducting a campaign to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine so that the West will stop supplying weapons to Kiev.

  • There have been documented cases when Ukrainian forces put civilians at risk and violated military law when operating in populated areas. Being in a defensive position does not exempt the Ukrainian military from compliance with international humanitarian law. 
  • the Ukrainian government should immediately ensure the deployment of its forces away from populated areas or evacuate the civilian population from areas where the military operates;
  • traces of military activity were found in 22 of the 29 destroyed schools;
  • A Russian strike destroyed a hospital that was used as a base of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Amnesty International is an international non-governmental organization founded in the UK in 1961, which draws attention to human rights violations and advocates compliance with international standards.
