The Latvian Seimas adopted a law on the independence of its Orthodox Church from the ROC. This is reported on the website of the Latvian Parliament.

The relevant amendments to the legislation were proposed by the President of Latvia Egils Levits, they were considered urgently.

The Latvian Church became part of the Russian Orthodox Church as a diocese in 1940. In 1990, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church granted her self-government.

Recall that on September 5, 2022, Levits announced his intention to adopt amendments to the legislation guaranteeing the full independence of the LC and actually declaring its autocephalous status.
