The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Moscow had not received a transcript of the speech of the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrel, in which he allowed himself insulting words about the Russian Federation. According to her, Russia will not let him “wind up” this situation and will not buy Brussels’ explanations about the alleged erroneous translation of the scandalous speech.

According to Zakharova, Moscow will “take into account their reaction when building a further line in relation to the European Union”. In addition, according to the Russian diplomat, the EU authorities should find the strength to tell the truth and do it publicly.

Earlier, Borrel’s words were commented on by Russian President Vladimir Putin. He suggested that a European diplomat in the 1930s would certainly have been on the side of the fascists in Spain. Also, during his speech at the WEF, the Russian leader noted that Borrel “just grinds his tongue”. According to Putin, this man is a great expert in this area. “God is his judge,” the President of the Russian Federation pointed out.

And the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, called Borrel’s statement “disgusting”, stressing that “such things should never be forgotten by anyone”.
