Sankei: Japan can hit enemy bases in case of an attack on an allied country

The Japanese armed Forces can launch missile strikes on bases on the territory of a potential enemy not only in case of direct aggression, but also in case of an attack on an allied country. This issue is currently being worked out while preparing the revision of the main documents in the field of security, according to Sankei Shimbun.

According to the publication, the government is actively discussing this issue. Currently, Japan has one full-fledged military ally, the United States. A similar system of defense cooperation is being designed with Australia.

Earlier, the United States, Japan and South Korea made a joint statement on North Korea’s missile launches. The sides confirmed that the provocative actions that North Korea is taking with unprecedented frequency pose a serious threat to the security of the region, including Japan and the Republic of Korea, and are also a clear and serious challenge to the international community. These two countries, together with the United States, intend to continue cooperation in order to achieve the containment of the DPRK until the complete denuclearization of this state.
