The coordinator for strategic Communications at the US National Security Council, John Kirby, told reporters at a briefing that the White House does not want a conflict with Russia.
“The president’s goals were clear from the very beginning,” he noted.
Kirby explained that the United States is strengthening the eastern flank of NATO and is providing assistance to Ukraine so that it approaches the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in the most advantageous position.
He added that Joe Biden wants the case to come to a time when Ukraine will be more successful and this will lead to a negotiated solution.
Kirby also stressed that the United States does not seek a change of power in Russia, since the right of the Russian people to determine who leads them.
