The press service of the Office of the Prime Minister of Great Britain issued a statement by Liz Truss, in which she announced the imminent update of the country’s defense doctrine.

According to the document, this decision will allow “the UK’s architecture in the field of diplomacy, defense and security to keep pace with the growing threat from hostile states.”

It is clarified that the definition of “hostile states” mainly concerns Russia and China.

In this regard, the UK, according to the Cabinet of Ministers, should invest “in strategic opportunities and alliances that are needed in order to firmly resist pressure from such authoritarian forces as Russia and China.”

It is planned that the update will be published by the end of 2022.

Kartapolov allowed the introduction of martial law in “certain areas” of Russia

Photo: Gennady Cherkasov

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrey Kartapolov said that the introduction of martial law is possible in “certain areas” of Russia. He stated this in an interview with the Parliamentary Newspaper.

According to him, now the Russian Federation is conducting a special military operation. “Therefore, I do not exclude that such a provision may be introduced in some localities,” the deputy noted.

In particular, this may happen in the regions bordering Ukraine, which are “almost daily subjected to shelling.” Kartapolov added that it is necessary to protect civilians and “apply special weapons measures — the same air defense.”

He added that this will impose certain difficulties, which “can be solved as effectively as possible only under martial law.”

Kartapolov also told about how the martial law regime in the border territories will look like if it is still declared. “The closest analogue is the counter—terrorist operation regime, which was declared in the border territories during the first and second Chechen wars,” he stressed.

According to him, during martial law, all power in the region is completely transferred to the military administration. Restrictions on the movement of citizens are also being introduced, for example, a curfew. A special mode of operation of critical infrastructure facilities and a ban on entry and exit begins.

He also said that there will be no general mobilization in the Russian Federation. As the deputy noted, fears that the amendments to the legislation adopted by the State Duma will precede mobilization are groundless. He noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated through his press secretary Dmitry Peskov that he will not announce mobilization.

The order of mobilization in Russia is described

Photo: Gennady Cherkasov

General mobilization is announced only when the country is at war, said lawyer Alexander Karabanov.

In this case, citizens who are on military registration receive summonses demanding their arrival at the military commissariat, where they are assigned to a specific military unit, the Moscow lawyer shared the details.

During a special military operation (SVO), mobilization cannot be carried out, Karabanov explained.

According to the lawyer, persons who have served in the army, as well as those who graduated from higher educational institutions with a military department, are on military registration. Those who are related to law enforcement agencies are also registered: the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the TFR, the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

“If, for example, a person is 27 years old and has not served, he will still be considered as a person in the reserve. All citizens of military age will have to receive a summons to appear at the military enlistment office and register as the first stage of mobilization,” the human rights activist explained.

As the human rights activist noted, the amendments adopted by the deputies to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation will more strictly regulate the processes taking place during their own.

Based on the new norms, only persons who have already taken the oath and redistributed to military units will be subject to criminal liability, the new draft law does not concern the draft dodgers, the candidate of Legal Sciences summarized.

Earlier, deputies of the lower house of the Russian parliament adopted in the 2nd and 3rd readings a law with amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation introducing responsibility for desertion, looting and surrender. Thus, the code included such concepts as “mobilization”, “martial law”, as well as “wartime”.

Khodakovsky told about Ukrainian tanks with immured crews

The commander of the Vostok battalion of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Khodakovsky, talking about the situation in the territory where the fighting is taking place, stressed that the enemy is taking the most radical measures to achieve its goals. He gave an example of how tankers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine brew hatches on tanks, sending them to fight against allied forces in such a way that they could not surrender.

Assessing the military situation, Khodakovsky noted that a difficult situation has developed near Kherson: communication through the Dnieper is extremely difficult. “There is a possibility that the enemy will try to push us out of the river again,” he wrote in his Telegram channel on Tuesday, September 20. According to the Vostok battalion commander, in order to achieve these goals, the enemy is ready to take unprecedented measures. “Onthe other day, our people saw an enemy tank and were going to destroy it, but his atypical behavior suspended the decision: the tank raised the barrel up and began to rotate the tower, as if signaling surrender,” Khodakovsky gave an example. “Our guys got close to the car and saw that the hatches on the tank were welded, the crew was simply walled up, like in a tin can, and sent to die.”

Earlier, Alexander Khodakovsky told in his Telegram channel why he considers the decision on the referendum on the annexation of the republics of Donbass to our country important. In his opinion, now “soldiers on the ground understand what they are fighting for, only logically,” but if Russia joins the conquered territories, then each of them will realize that now he is fighting for his land. According to the battalion commander “Vostok”, this radically changes the attitude to what is happening at the front.
